How it works

A quick guide to the app

Install as an app

Put the app on your home screen โ€“ it then opens full screen with its own icon, like a normal app. Updates arrive automatically.

iPhone (Safari): tap the Share button โ†’ Add to Home Screen โ†’ Add.

Android (Chrome): tap the three-dot menu โ†’ Install app (or Add to Home screen).

Computer (Chrome/Edge): click the install icon at the right of the address bar.

Offline: once you've opened the app online, it also works without internet โ€“ all pages, words, verbs, grammar and reading texts of your language. Your answers are saved on the device and sent automatically when you're back online (a small badge at the top shows how many are waiting). Switching profiles or creating new ones needs a connection.

Today & My mistakes

Today's round mixes everything in about 10 minutes: 10 words (due reviews first, then new ones), 5 verb forms, 5 grammar sentences, 2 sentences to translate and 1 dictation. It's the easiest way to practise every day without having to decide what to do.

My mistakes collects everything you answered wrong โ€“ in every exercise. Practise them on their own (all or one kind); once you get a mistake right twice in a row, it disappears.

Listening

Tap next to a word, sentence, verb table or grammar example to hear it ( = slowly). The voice comes from your device โ€“ if it sounds odd, install a better Italian/Spanish/French voice in your phone's or computer's speech settings. On the Vocabulary page you can switch on Read words aloud automatically.

Dictation (Sentences โ†’ ): listen to a sentence and write it down. You get feedback word by word; accents and punctuation don't count as mistakes.

Reading

Short stories and dialogues from A1 to B1. Tap any word to see its meaning (verb forms show their infinitive) and add it to your words with one tap. Listen to the whole text, show the German translation per paragraph, then answer a few questions โ€“ each answered question counts 2 race points.

Vocabulary

The app teaches you words using spaced repetition: the more confidently you know a word, the longer before it appears again. Each word has a phase (1โ€“7); after that it is known.

Learning phases

Phase 1New โ€” review again tomorrow
Phase 2Review in 3 days
Phase 3Review in 7 days
Phase 4Review in 14 days
Phase 5Review in 30 days
Phase 6Review in 60 days
Phase 7Review in 90 days
KnownNo more reviews needed

After checking answers

Again โ€” start the word over; it comes back today.

Stay โ€” right, but unsure: keep the phase.

Good โ€” confident: move to the next phase.

Known โ€” you know it perfectly: mark it known.

Wrong answer? Type the word once correctly, then choose. A typo can keep its phase.

Vocabulary tabs

Learn

Introduces 20 new words you haven't seen yet. Use Topic to learn one area at a time (food, family, travel, verbs โ€ฆ) โ€“ each topic shows how much of it you've seen.

Ask ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช โ†’ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น / ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น โ†’ ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช / Mixed

Choose which side of the card you're asked. Target language โ†’ German trains recognition, German โ†’ target language trains actively using the word. Mixed (the default) picks at random per card.

Review

Words that are due for review today. Do this before learning new words.

Words

All words you've ever seen, with their current phase and next review date.

Verbs

Practice conjugations. Each session shows a verb and asks you to fill in all forms for the chosen tenses. Your accuracy is tracked per verb and per tense; verbs with recent mistakes are in the Errors tab. Verbs come back for review on their own: the day after a mistake, then after 3, 7, 14, 30 and 60 days as long as you get them right โ€“ tap Review due verbs.

Choose which tenses to practise at the top of the page โ€“ all tenses up to B1 (each chip shows its level). Beginner profiles start with the present tense only. Accents don't matter when checking, and for verbs with essere/รชtre both endings count (e.g. sono andato/a, je suis allรฉ(e)).

Compound tenses: just the parts

Typing out a compound tense person by person (ho capito, hai capito, ha capito โ€ฆ) only ever asks two things: which auxiliary the verb takes and what its participle is. Tick Compound tense: just the parts under the tense picker on the Verbs page and the table asks exactly those two โ€” avere and capito โ€” instead of six forms. The auxiliary is wanted in the infinitive (avere / essere, haber, avoir / รชtre), the participle as it stands, agreement endings included (andato/a, allรฉ(e)).

Italian, Spanish and French have such a tense (passato prossimo, pretรฉrito perfecto, passรฉ composรฉ); Portuguese doesn't, so the box doesn't appear there. The other tenses are always asked in full, and so are the sentence drills.

Grammar

Exercises: 34 topics covering the grammar from A1 to B1, grouped by level โ€“ from articles and plural up to the subjunctive, pronouns and if-clauses. Each topic opens with a short rule and examples; then fill in the gaps โ€“ by choosing or typing. Grammar answers count for the race like verbs (half a point each).

Lessons: short explanations in German with examples to listen to. Italian has 29 lessons from A1 to B1; every exercise topic links to its lesson.

Writing

Word order: the German sentence is given and the words are jumbled โ€“ tap them into place. Rewrite: one sentence, one instruction (into the past, as a question, with a pronoun, politely). Both have exactly one right answer, so the app marks them and wrong ones go to My mistakes.

Letters: a short e-mail or message with gaps and a word bank; afterwards you get the whole letter in German. Free writing: six tasks with phrases to build with โ€“ you write, then compare with a model answer and judge yourself. That last one the app cannot correct, so it is honest about it.

Phrases

100 ready-made sentences for ten real situations โ€“ greetings, politeness, small talk, restaurant, shopping, getting around, hotel, doctor, phone and emergencies. The German sentence is shown, you write it in the language you are learning; several wordings are accepted, and reads the answer out. Each phrase has its own review schedule: four correct answers, spread over three weeks, and it counts as safe. A phrase counts two points for the race, like a sentence.

Article blitz

Twenty nouns without their article โ€“ tap the one that belongs to it, and the next noun comes straight away. Your own words come first, then the rest of the catalog. The round keeps your best score and its time; wrong taps land in My mistakes. Articles count half a point each for the race, like verbs.

Numbers & time

Numbers, clock times and dates, all generated โ€“ so no two rounds are the same. Either you hear it and write the digits (as at a counter or on the phone), or you see the digits and pick the written form out of four. 15:45 may be typed as 3:45 too, and 12.3. as 12.03. โ€“ only noon and midnight have to be told apart. Each item counts one point for the race.

Profiles & app language

Each profile has its own progress, saved in the cloud and synced across your devices. Tap Switch Profile in the sidebar (or under Profile on mobile) to change who is using the app.

The app's own texts can be shown in English or German โ€“ switch with ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง / ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช in the sidebar, under Profile or on the profile and language pages. The choice is saved per device.

Languages

After choosing your profile you pick a language: ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Italian, ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ Spanish, ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท French, ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น Portuguese or ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท Brazilian Portuguese. Each language has its own level (Beginner A1 or Intermediate B1) and its own progress; the race adds up points from every language together. Tap Switch Language in the sidebar (or the flag under Profile on mobile) to change it or your level.
